Faith for the Impossible
“For with God nothing will be impossible.” - Luke 1:37 (NKJV)
What do you notice about this verse? What jumped out at you?:
On Sunday, Pastor Julius preached about praying for the impossible. When we come up against something that seems like there’s no way, as people, we tend to back away from it; thinking it’s not for us. How many times have you wanted something so big, that in the natural, seemed absolutely impossible? How many times do we have big goals for our family and ourselves, and realize that accomplishing those goals either comes with a lot of hard work or a miracle. So, we shut down the thought. We accept that those goals are impossible to reach and that we will be in the same place forever.
In those moments, we realize, we can’t get to those goals on our own. We look at the math and the numbers don’t add up. We look at our job that we have been comfortable in and think of how scary it would be to go for that promotion. We see that medical diagnosis and think it’s a death sentence. On our own, there’s nothing we can do to change our current situation, unless we have faith. Having faith is what will carry us through the most difficult of circumstances in life.
“Consider it pure joy, my brothers and sisters, whenever you face trials of many kinds, because you know that the testing of your faith produces perseverance” (James 1:2-3 NIV). We need to remember that when these trials come, or when those negative thoughts come up, we need to intentionally give it to God. He will fight your battle. He will bless you. Friend, you aren’t supposed to be able to do everything in your strength. We serve a mighty God, who wants to bless us! He wants to bless you! Will you let Him do that? Will you step out in faith, and hand your cares and prayers to Him?
Answer & Reflect on the following question (s):
1. When you look back at trials you’ve been through, are you able to see where God was in it and how He brought you through it?
2. Do you have a prayer that seems too big for you and your circumstance? Have you tried to ask God to increase your faith, to believe for the impossible?
3. God may have a blessing around the corner, but it will allow you to take a step out of your comfort zone. Are you willing to put in the work for your blessing?
Speak to the Lord and spend some time in prayer:
Lord, thank You for the countless blessings in our lives. Thank You for people of faith, surrounding us, and reminding us to put our trust in You. Thank You for the testimonies that speak of the ways You answer impossible prayers. Lord, I pray that You cover the person reading this with Your peace and Your strength. Equip them with what is needed to give their trust to You. If they need direction, I pray that Your voice is the loudest in their ear. Lead them. Bless them. Do what only You can do. Meet them where they are and create a new testimony of Your goodness. In Jesus name, Amen.
