Why Church is so Incredible
Scripture
“Preach the word; be prepared in season and out of season; correct, rebuke, and encourage- with great patience and careful instruction.” – 2 Timothy 4:2 (NIV)
Observation
This week, we had the pleasure of having Pastor Steve Boyce share a powerful Word with us on “Why Church is so Incredible”. One of the points he made during his sermon was that the Word of God is to be used as a corrective measure. We are a Church of imperfect people, serving a perfect and holy God and with that comes the process of constant refinement. As followers of Christ, we continuously work on ourselves to be made holy. 2 Peter 2:9 tells us “But you are chosen people, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, God’s special possession, that you may declare the praises of Him who called you out of darkness into his wonderful light.” God loves everyone, but He also calls everyone to repentance. This is why being part of a Church that is not afraid to stand on the Word is so important. We need Pastors who aren’t afraid to preach God’s truth. We need church leaders who aren’t afraid to correct, rebuke, and encourage. We need a congregation of people who are willing to refine themselves daily.
The Word of God is placed in our lives as a declaration of a greater mission; the mission to assist in saving souls for the Kingdom and claiming territory for God. But we cannot do either, if we first, don’t love God and love people, which are two of the greatest commandments.
Has God been nudging you to share His Word with someone, but fear and doubts have gotten in the way? Friend, I encourage you today that God’s timing is never wrong and if He is urging you to say something, it is because that ‘Word’ is needed for that person at that moment. Telling others about God’s Word is critical; it is a matter of life and death! As the Church, we should not take that lightly, for we all need the Word of God, so share it today!
Application
Pray and ask God for an encounter this week with someone who needs to hear His Word. Pray for boldness and rebuke any sense of fear or doubt that may get in the way. Let this verse encourage you as you share the ‘Word’ with others, “Be strong and of good courage; do not be afraid, nor dismayed, for the Lord your God is with you wherever you go.” – Joshua 1:9 (NKJV) No matter the outcome, thank God for the opportunity to be used as a vessel for His Kingdom’s work.
Prayer
Father, we thank You for who You are. We thank You for being the One who is the same yesterday, today, and forever! Lord, we thank You for the Church, we pray that we are bold people who aren’t afraid to stand by Your truth. We pray for the courage to correct and rebuke when needed but also to love, encourage, and up-lift one another. We love You, Father! It is in Your name we pray, Amen!
