A Place for You
“For everyone has sinned; we all fall short of God’s glorious standard.” Romans 3:23 NLT
What do you notice about this verse? What jumped out at you?:
I don’t know about you, but this verse reassures me. It reminds me that I am not meant to be perfect. I can do the best that I can each day, and still fall short. I have days where I try to be the most helpful person I can be. I do things, based on how I think Jesus would do them. Then, I am convicted when I have a judgmental thought. Then, I hear the words from Matthew 7:2 in my heart: “for you will be treated as you treat others. The standard you use in judging is the standard by which you will be judged.”
How blessed are we, that we can go to God in repentance in these moments of weakness? Because of Jesus’s sacrifice for you; for me; for that person we judged, we can come to Him and ask for forgiveness. The Bible says, “but if we confess our sins to Him, He is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all wickedness.” (1 John 1:9). Praise God, because no matter how hard we try, we will always fall short and sin, but if we genuinely seek Him for guidance and forgiveness, His grace will fall on us, and we will be forgiven!
Answer & Reflect on the following question (s):
Think about a time where you did or thought about something that you knew didn’t align with God’s glorious standard.
Did it convict you, or make you feel a little guilty? Did you feel confident in repenting, or did it make you feel like you couldn’t?
After reading this devotional, do you feel like you can go to God and seek His forgiveness? Why or why not?
Speak to the Lord and spend some time in prayer:
God, we thank you for Jesus and His sacrifice. Because of His willingness to go to the cross and die for our sins, we can come to you for forgiveness. Thank you for your faithfulness and your grace. We aren’t perfect, and you still love us. Please guide our hearts and our minds to want to seek you in all that we do. Lead us on the path of growing in faith. We thank you and we love you. In Jesus name.
