By Faith
“In the same way, faith by itself, if it is not accompanied by action, is dead. But someone will say, ‘You have faith; I have deeds.’” Show me your faith without deeds, and I will show you my faith by my deeds. You believe that there is one God. Good! Even the demons believe that and shudder.” – James 2:17-19 (NIV)
What do you notice about this verse? What jumped out at you?:
The foundation of this passage is based on the principle that “Faith without Action is Dead.” Anything less is mere lip service to God. The Bible says that even demons believe in God. The only way to test the true measure of our Faith is to act upon that which the Lord guides us to; no matter the level of difficulty or uncertainty we may feel. God has not given us a spirit of Fear. Fear is a spirit from the enemy and not of our God. Fear is false evidence appearing real.
To truly test the level of the Faith we proclaim, we must be acting on that which the Lord guides us to and through, without hesitation. We must take each next step in front of us, especially when the road seems darkest, most challenging, and perhaps very scary. In those very moments is where the potential for the most growth of our Faith lies. That is exactly when the Lord’s power is proven the most.
Always remember that “good intentions” is NOT obedience and without action, God considers our Faith dead. As believers in Christ, let’s not just be hearers of the Word but doers of the Word.
Answer And Reflect on the following question(s):
Is there an instance that you can reflect on where you have proven your Faith through your actions? Take time this week to record the actions you have taken in Faith, in order to have tangible and true evidence of your proclamations of Faith in God.
Speak to the Lord and spend some time in prayer:
Heavenly Father, thank you for reminding me that without action, my Faith is as good as dead to You. Thank You for reminding me that, through Your guidance and strength, the situations in life that feel most uncertain, actually bring the most growth for my Faith in You. Thank you for your unmatchable comfort, peace, and protection throughout these difficult tests of Faith. And, in the times when my flesh may feel weak, thank You for proving to me over and over, that your strength is made perfect in my times of weakness. May my Faith continue to grow in You as I take each step in my daily walk with You. May You have all the Glory. In Jesus mighty name, Amen.
