From Bones to Battles
“So, I spoke the message as He commanded me, and breath came into their bodies. They all came to life and stood up on their feet- a great army.” - Ezekiel 37:10 (NLT)
What do you notice about this verse? What jumped out at you?:
Do you ever feel alienated in your faith walk? Have you ever felt like you were surrounded by people who just don’t understand the goodness of our amazing God? I have. Before my walk with Christ, I used to admire the “worldly ways” of the people around me. People who would get drunk to have fun, people who would get even with others who wronged them, people who would complain and suck the life out of a great time. We’ve all been there or have been that person.
As for the people who would bring the mood down in the room, that was my mom. She would take the best thing that could happen and look for a way to complain about it. She would tell you that no one helps her, directly after you helped her. It took all that I had, to restrain myself from
responding to her negatively and so I let her walk all over me. It took a lot from me. Then, finally, I sought God on something I had no control over. He put it on my heart to have a conversation with her. This was a person, who I was convinced was used by the enemy to get to me, and as hard as it was, I had to suck up my pride, and have a talk with her.
We had a long conversation, and in that conversation, I shared all of the good that God has done in my life, and the many ways I have grown through my faith. A conversation that could have been a fight or an argument, was led by the Holy Spirit, sprinkled with grace, because I sought Him first. After the conversation, I prayed over us and told God to take it from there.
Now, my mom comes to church! She got baptized! A person who was dead, is now alive in Jesus Christ! I truly believe it was because I was able to seek Him, and speak life into her situation through His guidance, that our relationship was forever changed. Friend, you have that ability to do the same for your person! Just remember to seek Him, and let Him guide you in grace, and hand it to Him, so He can do the miraculous!
Answer & Reflect on the following question (s):
Who, in your life, have you been hoping to see God work through? Have you truly sat with God in prayer about this person? Have you asked Him what He thinks you can do to speak life into them?
Speak to the Lord and spend some time in prayer:
Lord, we are in awe of your goodness and the ways you move through your people. We thank you for the ways that you use us to speak life into others. We thank you that you are always there, waiting on us to give our worries and our cares to you. Lord, we pray that you cover us and that
you give us a boldness to speak life into those around us. We pray that you make us aware of your presence and seek your guidance when we interact with people who may not know you. Use us for your glory and honor. We thank you, Lord. In Jesus name, Amen.
