“For I can do everything through Christ, who gives me strength” – Philippians 4:13 (NLT)
Written by the Apostle Paul, Philippians 4 highlights what believers should keep our minds focused on. Paul goes into detail and gives examples highlighting the range of his human experience. He’s been hungry, he’s been fed, he’s been in need, he’s been well off, etc. But the great thing about Paul is that despite life’s ups and downs, Paul understood that the Lord was always mindful of him, and because of that, Paul chose to rest in that promise.
What an example Paul is to us. That we have the power to remain content throughout all life has to throw at us. At the end of the day, God loves and cares for us and it is through Him that all of our needs are supplied. Even if we may not see it in the exact moment, the Lord is working on our behalf. He is for us! Romans 8:28 states, “And we know that God causes everything to work together for the good of those who love God and are called according to His purpose for them” (Romans 8:28 NLT). So, no matter the circumstance, rest in the promises of your heavenly Father, who empowers and strengthens you for all of life’s situations. And when you feel that you are in warfare, know that you are equipped because of the God that gives you strength.
Reflect on the following:
Set aside a time for worship today. Play the song “Surrounded” by Elevation Worship and let it be a reminder to you that even when we fight tough battles in this life, we fight them with the strength of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.
"It may look like I’m surrounded, BUT I’m Surrounded by YOU!”
Speak to the Lord and spend some time in prayer:
Father, we thank you for who you are, that you are our strength in times of weakness. We ask that you cover us with the power of your presence. We ask that you give us a winning spirit so that when the urge to quit comes, we see ourselves as overcomers. We pray that we always see ourselves as conquerors because with you we are always on the winning side of every battle. In Jesus name we pray, Amen.
